Sawney Beane

From time to time in the course of human history natural depravity plumbs new depths—and not only during wars. The Sawney Beane case concerned a family that lived in a cave and chose murder, cannibalism, and incest as its way of life. For twenty-five years this family, rejecting all accepted standards of human behaviour and morality, carried on a vicious guerrilla war against humanity. Even a medieval world accustomed to torture and violence was horrified.

Wonderland

Porn “star” John Holmes was a coke addict and had gotten himself involved with the "Wonderland Gang", a group of small time drug dealers, including David Lind, Ron and Susan Launius, Billy Deverell, and Joy Miller, all living at 8763 Wonderland Ave in Los Angeles.

Holmes was also friends with Eddie Nash, drug dealer and wealthy owner of several night clubs. The Wonderland Gang carried out a robbery of Nash’s house (helped by Holmes’ leaving a door open). Nash had Holmes brought to his house and beaten until he gave up the people behind the robbery. This was overseen by Scott Thorson, Liberace’s lover, who was picking up drugs at Nash’s house.

Downer

I started with dope around fourteen, but I wasn’t actually using it. I was handling it. First, I have to tell you the dope back then was handled entirely differently from it is now. People that were dope fiends, you’d never know they were dope fiends, for the simple reason that they didn’t nod on no corners, they weren’t greasy, and if they stole anything, you would never know. They were clean, their clothes looked good, and they only stole the best. They kept money in their pockets, and nobody talked, nobody said “Oh, listen, there’s Teddy who’s a dope fiend.” It was a quietly kept thing.
